We at Scrag Mountain Music take inspiration from this plant in our programming; its delicate yellow flower represents music's ephemeral beauty, and its thick and shaggy roots represent musical grit. Both the flower and the root are necessary for the Mountain Avens to thrive in harsh alpine conditions just as contrasting styles, moods, genres, emotions, and harmonies are necessary for chamber music to stay relevant and make a difference in this world.
